We stopped drinking Kool-Aid and other dye-laden drinks about 15 years ago, before most of my kids were even born. We were recently at my niece’s birthday party. The kids were given drink pouches with their cake–we graciously accept and make exceptions when we are guests. My oldest daughter started laughing. I looked over and realized that none of my kids knew how to open them. These were the kind where you just poke the straw in the top somewhere and then you have to make sure and hold them by the corners or the juice squirts out.
Because my kids have been so “deprived”, I decided to try and figure out a “healthy fruit drink” for them.
I came up with a hibiscus tea blend that is both refreshing and full of natural vitamin C!
Tutti Frutti Hibiscus Tea
Ingredients:
1/2 cup hibiscus flowers
1/4 cup spearmint leaves
1/4 cup lemon grass
1/4 cup rose hips
2 Tablespoons dried lemon peel
2 Tablespoons dried orange peel
Instructions:
Heat up 4 cups of water and add 1/2 cup of Tutti Frutti Hibiscus Tea blend. Cover and let steep 10-20 minutes. Strain herbs and add sweetener of choice (honey, stevia, sugar). Pour over ice and enjoy!
